Pay utility bills, check status online

The City of Bellingham's new online utility payment system allows customers to pay their utility bills anytime, anywhere via the internet. Make credit card payments, check the status of your account and see water usage data for your metered properties, all right here on the City of Bellingham website.

The option to pay electronically via credit card is now available in addition to other payment options, including the popular Autopay plan, which deducts your utility payment directly from your checking account. Payments also can continue to be made through the mail, at the City Hall drop box, or in person at the Finance Department.

Bellingham Finance Director John Carter said customers have requested the ability to make payments online for several years. It already is a popular option, with almost 200 people signing up in the first two weeks it was available.

He said this option provides additional convenience to utility users, and its use will result in efficiencies for the City by greatly reducing the number of transactions handled manually, either by mail or telephone.

Sign up to make credit card payments online by visiting the Utility Billing page of the City website. Utility customers must complete an online form using their utility account number and other information found on their utility bills. Access to accounts is granted immediately when the correct information is entered.
